Yes, it's a bit unorthodox, but I'm here to say that this Valentine's Day is all about self love.
Ok, this doesn't mean that you are to banish your loved ones just so you can have time with yourself. Not even close. What I'm simply saying is it's time to start taking care of yourself. And Valentine's Day is a great day to jump in head first.
As a mother (and a woman), I used to struggle asking for what I wanted, especially when it came to special occasions. I used to settled for what other people were planning for me; I didn't ask for what I actually wanted; and allowed my health, all mind, body and spirit, to suffer in the process.
And in the end I was always left feeling disappointed. I know I'm not alone as this can be a curse for so many women. And really, there's nothing worse than feeling let down by those you care about.
When I started asking for exactly what I wanted, I became liberated. I made the decision that it wasn't up to anyone else to make me happy. The ONLY person in charge of my happiness is me. And guess what? The more clear I became on what I wanted, the happier and healthier I became AND so did others around me. In fact, the better I care for myself and make sure my needs are taken care of, love just pours out of me.
Happiness comes in different forms. Perhaps it's choosing a new wooden watch (Oh goodness, isn't it gorgeous?!) or maybe it's having some time to yourself to read a book or savour a delicious blender latte. OR maybe it's doing all of these. The point here is to take care of yourself. The other point (although slightly cliché but very true) is you are worth it. Your happiness matters.
The other thing I've learned, is when I removed expectations, especially from those I love, everyone's stress is greatly reduced. Because nobody is a mind reader (well, no one I know of anyways). The time has come to focus on what brings you joy, love, inspiration and any other amazing feeling that comes to mind.
Just think, if mother’s role modeled self love, self respect and worthiness... wow, what an incredible message we would be sending to our children. It's would change the world.
This wooden watch I gifted to myself. I chose it. AND I love it. It aligns with everything about who I am. It will also help me get to places I need to be on time (yes, this is a struggle for sure). I love that I can wear it with leggings and jeans while running around after my busy babies, because let's face it, that's what I spend most of my time doing.
One of things I love most about this watch is that it’s created from a natural and sustainable resource and over time, the colour of the wood enhances due to the unique oil on your skin, making it a one of a kind piece. I wear jewelry that is an expression of who I am and I love items that are unique. I specifically chose the Aegean Blue face because of my obsession with demin… it’s basically a perfect fit.
Again, it’s about picking something that is a perfect fit for you. A watch like this is timeless, sturdy, beautifully handcrafted and one I will have forever.
Until February 11th, you can enter into a giveaway for a $100 gift card to JORD who makes these gorgeous wooden watches. And just by entering, you'll receive 10% a watch of your choice.
