I have a love affair with hemp hearts. I eat them all the time, literally add them to everything. They are rich in protein, are an excellent source of omega 3 and 6 and are easily digested. Not to mention they are delicious in flavour. A little nutty and soft to chew.
The omegas in hemp are very sensitive and are easily denatured when exposed to higher heat. Most hemp mylk that you buy in stores (or maybe all) is pasteurized, leaving the the oils to oxidized. Oxidization creates free radicals and free radicals are carcinogenic (ie. cancer causing). This gives us good reason to make our own. And guess what? It's even better then what you'll buy in the store. Also, it's super easy to make. (Side note: if you haven't noticed yet, I really like making things that are easy to make. It's kinds my thing.)
Use this vanilla hemp mylk in your tea or coffee, in cereal, in a smoothie, to make chia pudding or to just drink. It's so yummy you'll think you're drinking something naughty.
